"Gay Tax Protest?"

I found this blog through the comments at JoeMyGod, and I have to say that while I can somewhat empathize with the idea of withholding tax dollars a la "no taxation without representation," the blog itself eerily reminds me of a ransom note clipped from magazines . . .

The fact that they author talks openly about his psychiatrist should be comforting . . .

But - unless I've missed something that ties participation in the legislative process to one's marital status - single people do have representation. Meaning they can lobby for same gender marriage. So pay your damn taxes.

"No taxation without a marriage license!" It doesn't have the same ring.

Tune into Oprah FRI; Etheridge plans to discuss her own tax protest.

Jamie, if I were discussing a "medical" doctor instead of a psychiatrist...would that have been more comforting for you?
Call ME crazy, but society just allowed a PROCESS to occur where a majority could vote away rights from a minority. Simply put - the Mormons proved with their complete obsession with PROP 8 to be a Tax-Exempt Hate Group.

Heterosexuals - You better wake up. Instead of pondering a cerebral concept like how gays want the "1,138 rights of marriage", you need to educate yourselves about the CONSEQUENCES when one or more of those 1,138 rights are denied.

GOOGLE "Freeheld" or "Tying the Knot"; watch the DVDs. Write it down now.

Your laws HATE us, and we've had it! Yes, I did said HATE - I stand by it. Because how else can you explain these 3 realities?:

A police woman loses her life in the line of duty; her wife of 13 years is denied all pension benefits.

A rancher loses his husband of 22 years; his inlaws evict him and try to take the home he built and lived in with his beloved.

A detective spends 25 years risking her own life while protecting society; she has to spend her remaining days on this earth worrying whether her earned pension will be transferred to her wife (while living with terminal cancer).

YES, H-A-T-E. And your silence on this matter is a serious affront to our families's safety and security. FAMILY - isn't that a cherished concept in the U.S.A.?

So now after decades of disinterest, some of us in the LGBTI community have AWAKENED. And we will refuse to pay one penny of income tax to the IRS until the government (i.e. - you) decide you WANT our tax dollars as EQUAL CITIZENS.

This ain't a vote.
This ain't a debate.
This definately ain't a popularity contest!

You will PAY OUR TAXES until we have what your family ALREADY HAS; your apathy is costing you money as you read this. GAY TAX PROTEST.

BTW - No one is going to tell me that I have to "lobby" or "beg-plead-petition-donate" for EQUAL PROTECTION under the law (our families...with and without children, are treated like lepers in US law.)

Now the feds will need to repeal DOMA and DADT, grant us FULL equal rights (including marriage), and begin to start viewing our families - OUR FAMILIES - as the tax-paying contributing members of society we are.....well.....we USED to be!

Because if our HOMES, our FAMILIES, our very BELOVED are not acknowledged and valued as other families are legally, whatever we do outside of that home will never be acknowledged and valued legally, such as adopting children, working without discrimination, or serving openly in the military.

FAMILY FIRST. What is more important than FAMILY?

We owe the IRS absolutely NOTHING until equal. NOTHING. Get it?

This is NOT a test.
This is NOT a debate.
This is NOT a vote.
This is definitely NOT a popularity contest.

This IS justice - GAY TAX PROTEST.

Did I sound angry? Sorry, it's a "heavy flow" day.....

A police union that can't write a pension plan intelligently.

A rancher loses his husband of 22 years; his inlaws evict him and try to take the home he built and lived in with his beloved.

The fact that they didn't bother to check the legal requirement of two witnesses for a will.

A detective spends 25 years risking her own life while protecting society; she has to spend her remaining days on this earth worrying whether her earned pension will be transferred to her wife (while living with terminal cancer).

See the first: police union creates stupidly-written pension plan.

And guess what? The same thing would happen to straight people in the same situations who a) didn't bother to do things right and b) didn't bother to check if other people were doing things right.

Meanwhile, Kevin makes an excellent point; tax laws "discriminate" against people who are single or who don't have children, so does that mean that single and childless people can refuse to pay their taxes?

Um, hey, John? Point of order: you might want to read something else on the blog before going off like that. I've been to a psychiatrist when younger, and I've been with my GAY PARTNER for fifteen years. So all of your "YOU CAN PAY OUR TAXES" crap is misdirected when aimed at me.

Fool.
