Well, Maybe ONE More Post . . .

Found out a couple of things that I feel the need to comment on this morning.

--Majel Barrett Roddenberry died last Thursday. Anyone who's ever seen an episode of Star Trek should know who she was. She played Captain Pike's "Number One" in The Cage, played the green-skinned alien in the episode where Kirk's on the asylum planet, and soon after she became Nurse Christine Chapel. Later in life she played Counselor Troi's mother in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Also of note, from the wiki:
She provided the regular voice of the onboard computers of Federation starships for Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and most of the Star Trek movies.

The wiki notes that she received comedy training from none other than Lucille Ball herself. (wow) She was also executive producer for Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda.

Science Fiction has lost an icon. Rest in peace, Majel.

Now, from sad news to news that pissed me off, tell me again how civilized these people are. "Sanctity of marriage." Hrmph.

The line I have used from her the most often:

"I am Lwaxana Troi, Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed. Who are you?"

Oh no! I totally missed that news. All computers should observe a moment of silence in her honor. She will be missed.
