So here's the deal. I live in Vermont, and Vermont made products are always popular because you city slickers are suckers for leaves changing colors and souvenirs. So . . .
I write poetry. Not all of it's the best, but enough people have told me I'm good that I'm thinking maybe I can make myself some money.
What you may not know is that I like to take pictures as well. I tape and photograph all of the horse shows we attend and like to take scenic pictures as well just for the art's sake. I just don't bother uploading any of them to the net, since I've got them stored or printed.
What I'm thinking is that I could start my own line of Vermont-made greeting cards and framed scenes with verse captions and sell them to the tourists. I've even got my own little trademark stamp already cut, and plan to hand-stamp the back of everything. I have a couple of stores already lined up to test-market the product, based solely on a couple of snapshots and some verse I showed them.
So here's the question:

That depends on how much money you're willing to spend?
Go for it! Make it a real company though and then you can hire people to give you content and do the delivery work and such.
I wouldn't limit to only my own work. Maybe make it a "Vermont Poets" series of cards so that it has that local feel to the tourists. Just make sure you have little standard contracts written up with any other poets you use.
You'll never know unless you try!
